Airport of the Week: FLL

Aug 29, 2017

This is one of many posts to come highlighting top travel routes and airports out of Nashville International Airport (BNA).

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is a lively airport close to beaches, cruise ports, and bustling cities and towns. Many international flights are offered out of FLL and the wait during a layover is not so due to their FLL Terminal Tunes program.

FLLFood & Beverage

Sit and enjoy a meal at Burger Fi in Terminal 1, a sit-down restaurant that specializes in burgers exclusively made of natural ingredients, and shakes. Also in Terminal 1, The Bud Light Bar is the spot to drink a few beers and reminisce about the last week on the beach for those 21+. Urban Market and Plane Box Food Company are the places to stop to grab a quick and easy meal or snack for the plane. Both are conveniently located in multiple terminals. Shake it up and go to Pei Wei Asian Diner (Terminal 3). You can experience cuisine inspired by five different Asian countries, right from the Sunshine State!

Check out a full list of restaurants here.

Shopping

FLL has everything you need to complete your vacation and/or flight checklist. Splurge on some designer sunglasses in 5th & Sunset (Terminal 1) or SunglassHut (Terminal 2). You deserve it after making it through all of those security lines. Looking for duty-free? Broward Duty Free Shop in Terminals 2, 3, and 4 is your spot. Go ahead, get that expensive perfume for mom or a bottle of the spouse’s favorite wine. Of course, there are plenty of shops in every terminal to grab some snacks and magazines before you board your flight. Try popcorn – it is delicious and typically pretty low on calories. Plus, those in the seats around you won’t resent you! Or, if you’re not on a health kick, do yourself a favor and pick up chocolates from Hoffman’s Chocolates in Terminal 4.

Check out a full list of shops here.

FLL“Terminal Tunes”

FLL provides an opportunity for local musicians to perform in front of the airports millions of travelers. Passerbys may encounter a saxophonist in Terminal 2 or an acapella group outside of Hudson News in Terminal 3. These performances surely will make layovers and delayed flights a little better, even by just a little. This seems to be a growing trend that allows airports to showcase its local culture and all of its uniqueness. Hopefully, this is a trend more airports will soon adopt. Check out other airports that provide live music!
