A little glam, a little funk – Nashville, Tennessee offers something special for everyone. As the country music capital of the world, Nashville draws top-name entertainers and new artists hoping to catch their big break. However, business travelers passing through town should not deny themselves the chance to get a little two-step in, catch live music, and dive into the local foodie scene. Here’s how to spend your time in this musical, spirited little Southern city.
The holidays are upon us and, unfortunately (or not), so are gluttonous meals and desserts. Strict diets and cleanses have their place in January, but balance is still important leading up to the Holiday Season. We’re #thankful for the sweets at the Thanksgiving table, but we’re eating healthy while traveling through the Nashville International Airport. Here are some ideas:
Fresh-Squeezed Juice, Berry Field Bistro (Concourse C):
Choose one of their creations or blend your own healthy juice. Ingredients include Apple, Beet, Kale, Carrot, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Cucumber, Celery, and Ginger.
Egg White Omelet, Gibson Cafe (Concourse C):
A gluten free omelet with tomatoes, spinach, pepper jack cheese, and a baby green salad. Healthy without sacrificing flavor!
Yogurt & Granola, Gibson Cafe (Concourse C):
This antioxidant-loaded breakfast of Greek yogurt and seasonal berries will leave your appetite satisfied and your skin glowing (well, we can hope).
Oh Kale! Smoothie, Freshens Smoothies & Yogurt (A/B Food Court):
This smoothie has one and a half servings of greens and tastes like mango and pineapple. Substitute the mango sorbet for Greek yogurt and add protein powder for a more filling drink.
The Cobb, Berry Field Bistro (Concourse C):
A protein-packed salad to keep you full and energized through your flight and away from the baked goods. Leave off the bacon and blue cheese crumbles to keep it healthy.
Airports can be an uncomfortable experience, we get it. You just want to get from point A to point B and there is often lots of waiting in between. However, with a change of perspective and planning, you can have a luxurious experience before your next flight out of the Nashville International Airport. [For other airports check out our Airport Guide]
Vino Volo (Concourse C)
Begin your experience at Vino Volo – a quiet and upscale restaurant to unwind after security. Pick out a wine and ask an employee which food pairing he or she recommends. As long as it is in a plastic cup, you can bring your wine
to the next location.
Massage Bar (Concourse C)
Once you’re finished eating, take your Vino Volo wine to the Massage Bar, where professionals are waiting in a relaxed environment to pamper you. Don’t forget to pick out a spa gift on the way out.
Insider Tip: At this point, you may want to stop by Vino Volo again to refill your cup.
Nashville Nails & Salon Center (Concourse C)
Feeling relaxed from your massage, it’s time for Nashville Nails & Salon Center. Didn’t have time the week leading up to your trip for a haircut or wax? False. Nashville Nails & Salon Center offers waxing, barber, and hair care services for men, women, and children. You’ll be rolling off the plane freshly groomed.
SGH Sunglass Hut (Concourse C)
Speaking of vacation, did we hear your son used your sunglasses in his last Houdini skit and they never reappeared? Don’t settle for the ill-fitting drug store pair you’ve had for eight years (how come those never go missing?) and purchase a new pair at SGH Sunglass Hut. You deserve it. Although, we do suggest keeping the new shades high above kids’ reach.
Godiva (Concourse B)
Sadly your flight has started boarding and your pampering tour is coming to an end. Hold onto that last bit of luxury by purchasing some Godiva chocolate for your flight.

Live music is one of the newest trends at airports these days, making for a more entertaining layover or delay. Yes, you are reading that right. Music helps create a more localized and relaxed experience without having to leave the terminal. We’re game for anything that helps make the trip less stressful and more memorable.
Here are four airports that will have you jammin’ til your flight takes off:
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World, so it is only fitting that Austin-Bergstrom has its own live music scene. Monday through Friday, local musicians perform at various locations through the airport. What better way to start or end a visit to Austin, than hearing local musicians play while sipping on a brew?
Performances are held in the Barbara Jordan Terminal:
- Earl Campbell’s Sports Bar (Gate 13)
- Waterloo Records / Austin City Limits (Gate 13)
- The Saxon Pub and Grub (Gate 5)
- Annie’s Cafe & Bar (Gate 18)
Check out a detailed list of performances here.
Nashville International Airport
This airport has held live music performances in its concourses since 1988. (Hello, trendsetters!) Any travelers who find themselves waiting to depart at BNA have a good chance at a free performance from one of the Music City’s finest. All types of music are performed at six different stages in locations throughout the airport, so if you’re a frequent flyer based in the Nashville area you will always have something to tap your feet to.
Check out a detailed list of performances here.
Pittsburgh International Airport
Waiting for friends and family to arrive at this airport won’t seem like such a hassle anymore, especially if there is a delay or a lost bag claim to file. (On Thursdays, that is.) As part of a new Performing Arts Series, local musicians will be performing in Baggage Claim every Thursday. So park your car in short term parking and head inside; you will have a violinist’s melody to soothe you as pass the time waiting for your loved one.
Check out a detailed list of performances here.
Seattle–Tacoma International Airport
In an effort to showcase the Northeast’s music culture through the City of Music program, SeaTac has enhanced its airport environment with constant music. And we love it. There is live music in multiple locations throughout the terminal every day of the week. Also, strategically placed speakers will be broadcasting music by over 240 Northwest artists. If you have time, you might check out the music-themed art exhibits also. A delayed flight wouldn’t be the worst thing at this airport!
Check out a detailed list of performances here.

Going home for Easter but not in the mood to pay luggage fees to pack gifts for the family? You don’t have to waste precious luggage space or worry about selecting gifts that will make it through security; these days, you can find fabulous gifts for your loved ones right at the airport, saving you shopping time and energy. Thankfully Easter is a pretty low-maintenance holiday when it comes to giving gifts (looking at you, Christmas and Hannukah), so a simple card and box of chocolates will suffice. Most stores have pre-made Easter baskets and boxes prepared, making your job even easier. If you’re feeling that extra “Spring” in your step, bring home flowers for mom – she deserves it!
Knowing where to go is half the battle. Plan some extra time at your departure airport or take a little time when you land to find yourself a chocolate shop and a Hudson Booksellers to purchase cards. Because there are so many quality options at airports these days, you will surely find a gift to bring home for Easter that does not scream “last-minute.” Here is a list of chocolate and gift shops at various airports that will melt your heart (and theirs!):
- Savannah’s Candy Kitchen (ATL, Concourse B/C)

- See’s Candies (SAN, Terminal 2)
- Natalie’s Candy Jar (SAT, Terminal A)
- Seattle Chocolates (SEA, C Gates)

Insider Tip: While you nibble on that extra chocolate treat you picked up for yourself, use your time on the plane to express how much you care in each of the cards you picked up. Everyone loves a heartfelt handwritten note!
Winter and Spring break season is upon us and the kids (and you!) are itching to get away, right? Good news, you still have plenty of options! Picking a location and planning an itinerary can be difficult since everyone in the family usually has a different opinion, so we did some work to help narrow it down for you! Here are five family vacation locations that will satisfy the whole family and leave ya’ll with a lifetime of memories…
Some say spring skiing is the best skiing, so head to Colorado to hit some epic slopes with the fam. If you have younger children, put them in lessons for a couple days where they will have fun skiing with other kids (and you won’t have to worry about entertaining them until dinner!) Make sure to find a resort with a pool for the kids and a hot tub (and spa!) for the parents to enjoy when it becomes dark. Also, tubing and ice skating are awesome activities when you want to take a break from skiing. Rumor has it Vail is the perfect shopping destination as well. While a lot of shops are high-end and expensive, it doesn’t hurt to look. But fear not, if you don’t have your own equipment. There are plenty of places to rent (Check out Christy Sports and Black Tie) in the area….even down to your clothing!
Charleston, South Carolina
An equally historic and beautiful place, Charleston has plenty of activities that your entire family will enjoy. Visit Fort Sumter for a firsthand view of a Civil War landmark where you can spend hours exploring its grounds. Feel daring? Take a ghost tour to learn even more about Charleston’s fascinating and tumultuous history. If you have young children who do not have the patience for a tour, take them to the South Carolina Aquarium or the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry. But certainly families of all ages will appreciate a horse-drawn carriage ride through the beautiful city and hours spent on the beach. Charleston is also known for its food scene, so don’t leave before trying seafood or barbecue at a local favorite (ask the locals, they are the experts!)
Atlantis (Paradise Island, Bahamas)
We’re not sure who will enjoy Atlantis Paradise Island Resort more – the parents or the kiddos! Atlantis is a huge resort with ample pools, water parks, marine life, spas, and entertainment. There is something for every member of your family without having to leave the property. Dad can golf and the kids can conquer the huge waterslides while mom hits the spa. It’s a win win win! There are also plenty of shows and events going on so be sure to ask an employee for the details. Just a short flight from BNA to Nassau and a quick bus ride is keeping you from paradise on Paradise Island and a spring tan.
Quebec City, Quebec
A beautiful city with friendly people, Quebec City is the perfect location for a family vacation. First, explore the beautiful nature of Quebec. Canyon Sainte-Anne is a spectacular park with breathtaking views and waterfalls, which you can view from the suspension bridges. You also must spend a day in the neighborhood of Old Quebec. Old Quebec is situated on the water with amazing architecture and views all around. Go inside the Château Frontenac for a taste of luxury and pick out souvenirs for friends and family in the charming shops. Happen to have a bad weather day? Head over to the Méga Parc, one of the largest indoor parks in North America.
Ah, our nation’s capitol. Full of so much political turmoil and corruption. But this should not sway you from taking your kids on such an important trip to learn about our country’s history. From the multiple Smithsonian museums to the many monuments, it is difficult to fit all the essential locations of the city into one week.To save money, focus on the monuments and free-t0-enter museums and attractions. The Air and Space Museum and the National Zoo (along with all of the Smithsonian locations) are usually popular with the kids and all you will have to worry about buying is lunch and souvenirs! The National Mall hosts the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and other concrete reminders of how the Unites States was formed. While scoring a tour of inside the White House is not easy, capturing a picture from the outside is still exciting and a great profile picture.
Insider Tip: Almost anything you may have left at home will be available at one of the BNA shops for you to purchase before embarking on your family vacation, so no worries!
Let us know in the comments or tweet us @flyinstyleapp where you and your family are heading on your next family vacation. Safe travels!

Either you are waiting for your next paycheck to get in or just have not found the right destination for you and your friends, we want to help you find your perfect spring break spot! If you are a student at Vanderbilt, Tennessee State, or any college around the Nashville area, here are five spring break destinations that are compatible with flights out of Nashville International Airport (BNA)!
If you can swing missing a couple days of class and leave in the middle of the week, you can find American Airline tickets from BNA to MIA for $137 roundtrip! Once you arrive in Miami, activities, clubs and an eclectic food scene await. Fist, purchase a “Go Miami” card. With this, you have discounted rates to around 30 attractions and activities. Take a tour of the whole city, the everglades, or day trip to Key West! You will even be able to skip lines at some locations with the “Go Miami” card. If you’re not one to spend your vacation sight-seeing, you cannot go wrong with spending your days on the beach and the nights at the clubs. That is most likely where you will find your fellow spring breakers anyway! Before you leave, take part in the local Cuban culture with a mojito!
Inception at Sea
Take your spring break to the sea! Inception at Sea travels from Miami to the Bahamas (see above for Miami travel info) and has everything you could ever want in a spring break week on board. Food, board and the parties are all included (with the option of extras). Between activities on the ship and when the ship is docked, you will not have a minute of boredom.
South Padre Island
Fly into Harlingen, Texas (VIA) then take the shuttle to South Padre Island. This spring break location and its epic pool and beach parties have been popular with college students for years. South Padre Island is dedicated to assuring spring breakers have a memorable (and safe!) time by lining up entertaining performances and activities. This March, they have Lil Wayne and Rae Sremmurd set to perform, along with multiple “Beach Bash” music festivals so secure your tickets ASAP! For those with the need for speed, look into jet skiing, windsurfing, and skydiving. This location will not disappoint for those looking for a good time and little sleep.
We know what you’re thinking, but your twenty-year-old self certainly loves Orlando as much as your seven-year-old self. You’re now tall enough to conquer all of those rollercoasters. Spend your days at Universal riding those rollercoasters and at night eating and (if you’re of age) drinking your way through the countries of Epcot. Disney’s water parks are still the best and will keep you refreshed in the Florida heat. Central Florida may lack the beaches that are synonymous with spring break, but it certainly does not lack the excitement.
Get your passport ready for this incredible spring break spot! Sponsored pool and beach parties are where you will find most spring breakers, but Cancun is also the place to explore. Tour nature by zip line, snorkels and catamaran tours. There are many spring break packages in Cancun that can help get you get more bang for your buck. Groups like Studentcity and Sun Splash Tours aim to provide students with the most exciting and unforgettable week of their lives but with an emphasis on safety. Don’t leave without sharing a pitcher of margaritas with your friends!
Now get planning!
Insider Tip: Find a group of friends and purchase an apartment with a couple bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Bring an air mattress and your nightly costs will go way down! Having a kitchen will save you even more money if you all pitch in on groceries and make group meals. Saving money on travel, food, and sleep will leave you more for participating in activities, nightlife, and the local culture.
Have fun but, most importantly, be safe!

Many of us think the vacation starts the moment we step out of the airport at our final destination. If you and your significant other are going on a trip for Valentine’s Day, however, there is no reason your romantic getaway cannot start (and end) at the airport. Here are some insider tips to help you find the massage, wine, chocolate and more that will make your Valentine’s getaway start from the moment you check-in!
Nashville International Airport (BNA)
Behind on gifts for your Valentine and planning to fly through the Music City? Amaze her with chocolates from Godiva (B-6) and pair them with flowers from 24-Hour Flower (A/B lounge and C lounge). Head over to Graycliff Cigar Company (C-10) to buy him a fine cigar to enjoy on your vacation after a nice meal. When you are done exchanging last minute gifts with your honey, relax at the Massage Bar (B-1, C-14) for a well-deserved bit of indulgence or grab a glass of wine at Vino Volo (C-7) and enjoy a decadent meal before boarding your flight. You’ll both be ready for romance by the time you land.
Miami International Airport (MIA)
Whether you are departing from Miami International Airport en route to your final destination or en route to return home, you chose a great place to extend your romantic vacation. If you’d like some extra pampering, be sure to make an appointment ahead of time at Jettsetter Spa (South Terminal H) or Xpress Spa (D-10). Both locations offer plenty of services to make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated before your flight. Next find Beaudevin, located in the North Terminal. Here you can enjoy perfectly paired wine and small plates and escape from some of the hustle and bustle of the airport. Pick up desserts from the highly acclaimed Icebox Cafe (D-8) on the way to your gate to give your tastebuds a delicious reminder of South Beach and a sweet treat for you both.
San Diego National Airport (SAN)
Enjoy wine and small plates and traveling through San Diego National Airport? You are in luck; Beaudevein is located in Terminal 2, another perfect location to enjoy a romantic meal in a bustling airport. Surprise your significant other with a massage or gift from the Be Real Spa (Gates 26 & 36). You can even get aroma, oxygen & light therapy or a mani/pedi! Who says airport travel is stressful? Not here. And of course it is not Valentine’s Day without chocolate, so buy a delicious box of the famous See’s Candies in Terminal 2 East to share with your loved one over a glass of vino.
Insider Tip: Check out our app if you are traveling other airports around Valentine’s Day. Look out for relaxing spas, dessert shops, and restaurants with a romantic atmosphere. There is no reason for your Valentine’s Day trip to begin and end at the airport.

It’s been a few weeks since the new year and the temptation to succumb to unhealthy food cravings is hard to resist on a diet, especially while traveling. Grabbing a burger and fries is appealing, especially since just about every other restaurant you pass by in the concourse sells them….and the salads fade into the background. Airport travel, however, does not have to be the reason for ruining your diet. There are a variety of healthy options that will leave you feeling more energized and satisfied as you board your next flight in the Music City. Here are five healthy food options in the Nashville International Airport (BNA) to keep that New Year’s resolution intact.
Berry Field Bistro (Concourse C, Gate 2)
Love eating local? Berry Field Bistro creates all of their meals with locally sourced ingredients, which means you can feel confident you are not only getting a fresh meal, but one that supports local businesses. The menu offers plenty of choices, ranging from waffles to sandwiches to an array of healthy dishes. For a salad with a little pizzazz, sit down and enjoy the Kale Caesar or the Beets & Greens. If you are on a tight schedule to depart Nashville, grab a pressed juice and a bran muffin on the fly to enjoy in flight. You’ll feel energized AND satisfied knowing you supported local business after this meal.
Gibson Cafe (Concourse C, Gate 20)
If you are traveling before 10 a.m. and feeling a little groggy., Gibson Café is waiting for you with coffee AND healthy breakfast options to wake you right up! The café serves an egg white omelet loaded with vegetables that is a perfect way to start your travel day. The yogurt and granola is an alternative if you need something easy to grab-and-go for the flight. They also offer salads and soups for those dining during lunch or dinner.
Freshens Smoothies & Yogurt (A/B Food Court)
A great option for an early morning flight or an effective pick-me-up, Freshens Smoothies & Yogurt offers about 15 different smoothies and açai bowls. Certain smoothies such as Mango Me Crazy and Caribbean Craze can be made “Light” for a third less of the calories. If you feel like you’re lacking your daily servings of greens but don’t want to purchase a whole meal, their High-Performance smoothies offer over one serving of greens in each smoothie. Add boosters for even more energy to get you through your travel experience.
Noshville Delicatessen (A/B Food Court)
Late flight ahead of you? You need a dinner that is filling enough to keep you away from indulging on dessert but is not going to ruin your day’s momentum of eating healthy. Noshville Delicatessen offers plenty of salads with a choice of protein. Add tuna, chicken, or egg salad to any salad for a boost that will keep your metabolism up through your travels. Filling up on a hearty salad is an effective way to resist grabbing guilty treats like potato chips or candy for your flight. If you really cannot say ‘no’ to eating something sweet after dinner (we can’t!) grab a piece of fruit for the flight or dark chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Provence Breads and Café (Concourse C, Gate 20)
So you hit traffic on the way to Nashville International Airport and only made it through that never-ending security line with 20 minutes to spare? Provence Breads and Café is the place to hit up before running to your gate. They offer an array of prepared foods in their display such as salads and sandwiches. Grab a coffee and a piece of fruit for an early morning flight and you might just have a minute to charge your phone before you board!
Insider Tip: Planning for healthy eating can be tricky on the fly. Keep an eye out for the release of FlyInStyle To Go at Nashville International Airport, which will allow you to order food in advance and have it ready for pickup at your designated time, allowing you more time to browse menus, relax and enjoy your meal.
